Laboratory of Discovery Chemistry

at the Korea University College of Medicine

Research Overview

The primary goal of our research is to discover novel small molecules as drug candidates. We are particularly interested in small molecules that can treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and inflammatory bowel disease. We strive to achieve this goal through active collaborations across interdisplinary fields, with our expertise in computational, synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry.

Computational Approaches to
Discovery Chemistry

We use computational approaches including high-throughput virtual screening (HTVS) and molecular dockings in our projects. We are currently expanding our computer-aided drug discovery (CADD) platform to aritifical intelligence (AI)-driven drug discovery.

Synthetic Organic and
Medicinal Chemistry

We perform chemical synthesis within the lab for rapid biological evaluations. Our goal is to develop efficient synthetic routes to target molecules, as well as to optimize compound structures to fit better drug-like profiles.
